Cultural Hall

From MormonWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

The cultural hall is a large multi-purpose room in the center of a Church meetinghouse, usually consisting of a basketball court and a stage. Some smaller buildings omit the stage, or may only have a half-court basketball court, due to space and design considerations. Cultural halls are where activities take place which are not appropriate for a chapel, (such as sports, ward parties, etc.) Cultural halls also can double as overflow in many cases for larger church meetings such as Stake Conference. The cultural hall is situated in back of the chapel, and movable screens can be opened between the chapel and cultural hall. Another term for the cultural hall seen in some newer Church meetinghouses is 'Cultural Center'.
