The San Jose California Temple will be the 12th temple built in the state of California. President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct this temple in his closing remarks at the 193rd Annual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Bakersfield, located a little more than 100 miles northwest of Los Angeles, is near Death Valley National Park and is part of the Sequoia National Forest in south-central California. Nearly 400,000 residents live in Bakersfield.[1]

The Bakersfield California Temple is currently in the planning stages. No location has been announced.
