Alan D. Johnson is the managing director of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square as of July 2022. The position was created in a series of structural changes that began when the choir presidency, Michael O. Leavitt, L. Whitney Clayton, and Gary B. Porter, were called in August 2021.

Johnson has held management positions in private and government sectors. Prior to his appointment, he was the director of the Museum Division in the Church History Department and has worked with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 2006.

In addition to his managerial experience, he has over 40 years of experience as a musical accompanist, teacher, and performer.

He lives in Cedar Hills, Utah, with his wife, Susan. They are the parents of five children.
