Austin Ainge is an American basketball coach and executive. He was appointed president of basketball operations for the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association in early June 2025. He had been with the Boston Celtics organization for 17 years, most recently as Director of Player Personnel.

Jazz owner Ryan Smith said, “In this new role leading the Jazz front office, Austin’s ability to identify great talent, scout, and partner with Danny, Justin, and Will and the rest of the front office team will be key. Hiring Austin couldn’t be coming at a better time as we build up as an organization towards our ultimate goal of championship-level basketball.”[1]

Ainge had been a basketball head coach of the Maine Red Claws (a Celtics’ G League affiliate) from 2009–2011 and assistant coach for Southern Utah University for 2007–2008.

Playing basketball at Brigham Young University, Ainge was named team captain twice and led the Cougars to two Mountain West Conference championships, three NCAA tournaments, and one NIT appearance. He was also named All-Conference Honorable Mention twice.

Ainge and his wife, Crystal, have three sons. He joins his father, Danny Ainge at the Jazz, who is CEO of basketball operations and alternate governor.
