Daniel LaDrew Vranes, known as Danny, is a retired professional basketball player. He was the fifth player to be drafted in the first round of the NBA draft. He was drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics, where he played through 1986. He then played for the Philadelphia 76ers from 1986 to 1988. His best offensive season came in 1983-84 when he averaged 8.4 points in 80 games for the Sonics.

Vranes would have played in the 1980 Olympics, but the USA boycotted the Games in Moscow. 

He played in the European pro leagues for five years, with AEK Athens, Aresium Milan, Cagiva Varese.

Vranes was inducted into the Utah Sports Hall of Fame in 2004.

Vranes was born on October 29, 1958, in Salt Lake City, Utah. During his senior year at Skyline High School, he led his team to the state basketball championship. He played for the University of Utah and three times he was first team All-WAC. His number 23 was retired by the Utah Utes.

He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
