The Huntsville Alabama Temple was among the seventeen new temples announced by President Russell M. Nelson during the October 2024 general conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.[1] The Huntsville Alabama Temple will be the second house of the Lord in this southeastern state. The first, the Birmingham Alabama Temple was dedicated in September 2000.

Huntsville, located in the Appalachian region of northern Alabama, is the most populated city in the state, with more than 225,000 residents. Alabama has over 40,000 members in about 75 congregations.[2]

Location

The Huntsville Alabama Temple will be built on a site of approximately 21 acres located at the southeast corner of Gillespie and Browns Ferry Road, Madison, Madison County, Alabama. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 30,000 square feet.
