Jerry and Naomi Hancock are the creators and owners of Subzero Ice Cream, which uses liquid nitrogen to create custom ice cream right in front of the customer’s eyes. Jerry took his background in chemistry and developed a way to freeze ice cream using liquid nitrogen.

The Hancocks pitched their concept on the television show “Shark Tank” in 2013. Their idea gleaned rave reviews and without the backing of any of the investors on the show, the company has grown since its beginning in 2004. At the end of 2018, they had 61 franchises internationally.

Previous to Subzero, the Hancocks owned New York Burrito, an establishment that allowed customers to create their own meals. Customizable food is the forte of the Hancocks, and they took this skill into Subzero.

The Hancocks are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
