Lynn J. Archibald was a college basketball coach. He was head coach at University of Utah from 1983 to 1989 and at Idaho State University from 1977 to 1982. He had been assistant coach at University of Utah for one season (1982 to 1983). He was also assistant coach at Brigham Young University (1994–1996), Arizona State University (1989–1994), University of Southern California (1976–1977), University of Nevada, Las Vegas (1974–1976), Cal Poly (1972–1973), and Long Beach State (1970–1972). At BYU, he was also the director of basketball operations.
Archibald was born on September 27, 1944, in Logan, Utah. He lived in Oregon and California with his family. He played college basketball at Utah State and El Camino College for one year respectively. He graduated from Fresno State. He began his coaching career in high school basketball.
He died on May 28, 1997, from a prostate cancer. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
