Tyson Murphy: Mormon Artist
Tyson D. Murphy is a digital artist and animator. He is art director and principal artist at Riot Games and has been a lead character artist on World of Warcraft at Blizzard Entertainment. He is also a freelance illustrator. One of his fun projects is to infuse light into scenes of some of his favorite Disney movies. He has said that the originals were made during a time when less lighting was painted into the scenes. He has also worked at Chair Entertainment and Disney Interactive.
Murphy is from Alpine, Utah, one of eight children born to baseball player Dale Murphy. He drew a cartoon for his father for a 2012 Christmas present that was featured in an article on Murphy’s hope for the Baseball Hall of Fame that appeared in USA Today , the Deseret News., and other news sources.
Murphy studied animation at Brigham Young University, graduating with a bachelor’s of fine art in 2011. He and his wife, Valerie, live in Orange County with their two children. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
