The Benin City Nigeria Temple will be the third temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints built in Nigeria. President Russell M. Nelson announced its construction during the 190th Annual General Conference in April 2020.
The Church of Jesus Christ was officially established in Nigeria in 1978. Church membership in Nigeria is over 220,000 in 770 congregations.
Location
The Benin City Nigeria Temple will be built on a 2.17-acre site located at 16 Commercial Ave., Benin City, Nigeria. Plans call for a two-story temple of approximately 30,700 square feet, as well as an arrival center and patron housing.
