José A. Teixeira is a General Authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was sustained a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy on April 5, 2008, and served as president of the Europe Area Presidency. He is currently serving in the Presidency of the Seventy. Prior to his call, he was presiding over the Brazil Sao Paulo South Mission. He served in the Third Quorum of the Seventy from 1997 to 2005.

José Augusto Teixeira da Silva was born on February 24, 1961, in Vila Real, Portugal. He served as a full-time missionary in the Portugal Lisbon Mission. He has also served as elders quorum president, district president, high priests group leader, high councilor, national public affairs director, stake president, and Area Seventy.

He earned a degree in accounting and business management from IAT Technical Improvement Institute in Lisbon and then studied accounting and commerce at Jaime Cortesao Technical School in Lisbon. Teixeira was an area finance manager and later international controller for the Church of Jesus Christ.

He also served in the Portuguese Air Force and was assigned to CINCIBERLAND, NATO; he was awarded for his services to that international military unit.

He and his wife, Maria Filomena Lopes Teles Grilo, were married in the Bern Switzerland Temple. They are the parents of three children.
