A. Hamer Reiser

Albert Hamer Reiser was a leader in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as the secretary of the general superintendency of the Deseret Sunday School Union for over twenty years. In 1926 he became a member of the Sunday School general board and in 1943 became the second assistant in the general superintendency. Later he became the first assistant. During his long service in the Sunday School, he wrote lesson manuals and books, including a children’s book about history of the Church. While serving as the president of the British Mission, he oversaw the purchase of the property for the London England Temple. In 1955 he became an assistant secretary to the First Presidency.

Reiser was born on August 31, 1897, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from the University of Utah and was manager of the Deseret Book Company. He also became a member of the Utah State Bar, although he never studied law formally. He was also a member of the University of Utah Board of Regents for eight years. He was a member of the Utah State Parks and Recreation Commission and served as the secretary to the Utah Centennial Committee from 1938 to 1948.

He and his wife, Elizabeth R. Baxter, were the parents of eight children. He passed away on April 25, 1981.
