Athos Marques de Amorim, a native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, served as a General Authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Second Quorum of the Seventy from 1998 to 2002. He also served several times as a branch president, as a district president, and later president of the Brazil Fortaleza Mission.

Amorim was born on June 14, 1932, and was baptized in 1972. He and his wife, Maria, were sealed in the Washington DC Temple in 1978. They are the parents of two children.
