Carlos Augusto Godoy is a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was called to the First Quorum of the Seventy on April 5, 2008.

Godoy was born on February 4, 1961, in Porto Alegre, Brazil. He received his bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from Pontificia Universidade Catolica in1987. He also earned a master’s degree in organizational behavior from Brigham Young University.

In 2004, he started a consulting company called CHANGE Consult-Organizational Development. He has worked as the regional sales manager and national training manager of Johnson & Johnson, human resources manager for United Technologies-Otis Elevator, and South America human resources manager for Dow Corning. He was also the director of ZF/Sachs South America.

Godoy joined the Church of Jesus Christ in 1977, and since that time, he has served as Young Men president, elders quorum president, bishop, high councilor, and regional welfare agent. He served as a full-time missionary in the Brazil Sao Paulo South Mission, president of the Brazil Belem Mission, and as an Area Seventy.

During the 184th Semiannual General Conference Sunday afternoon session, Elder Martinez spoke in his native language, Portuguese, while listeners in the Conference Center saw English subtitles, and television viewers heard an English translation. This format was unprecedented.

He served for a year in the Brazilian military. He married Monica Soares Brandao and they are the parents of four children.
