Charlie Nicholes Holmberg is the author of several novels, including Followed by Frost (a 2016 RITA finalist); Magic Bitter, Magic Sweet; The Fifth Doll; and the three volumes in The Paper Magician Trilogy (The Paper Magician, The Glass Magician, and The Master Magician), to which she sold the movie rights to Disney in 2016.

She also wrote Star Mother, which reflects motherhood, genealogy, and sacrifice.[1]

Charlie was born on April 4, 1988. Music was a big part of her life all through high school, where she was a jazz pianist, played flute and French horn, and enjoyed writing her own music. She seriously considered studying music composition when she went to Brigham Young University.[2] Instead, she majored in English and minored in editing where Brandon Sanderson was one of her instructors. After graduation, she worked as a freelance and technical editor. She wrote nine novels before she published her first one, The Paper Magician.

She also writes music. She takes composition lessons from a music producer and is part of the Nashville Songwriters Association.[3]

Holmberg is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
