Dallyn Bayles
Dallyn Vail Bayles is a musician, singer, and actor and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is originally from Green River, Utah. He is a member of Actors’ Equity Association. In 2010 Bayles performed and toured in Phantom of the Opera. In the middle of the tour, Bayles also found time to record a new album with Deseret Book’s Shadow Mountain records, Song of Redeeming Love (released on March 4, 2010).

Hopefully I can help others feel the spirit, and embrace the Church and missionary work. If I can do that, then fantastic.” [1]
He has toured throughout the United States and Canada playing Enjolras on the Broadway tour of Les Miserables (Jason Moore, director), and was part of the show's China premiere engagement at the Shanghai Grand Theatre that starred Colm Wilkinson as Jean Valjean. Dallyn performed with the award-winning songwriter, Stephen Schwartz, in the New York industry presentation of his musical, Children of Eden (Scott Schwartz, director), singing the role of Adam. Other theatre credits include: Count Philippe de Chandon in Phantom (Fullerton Civic Light Opera), Archibald Craven in The Secret Garden (Village Theatre; Brian Yorkey, director), Ziegfeld Tenor in Funny Girl (Sundance Theatre); Father in Children of Eden, Paul Bratter in Barefoot in the Park, and Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance (Brigham Young University); Sid Sorokin in Pajama Game, and Sky Masterson in Guys & Dolls. Dallyn has also performed in numerous religious productions. He portrays Hyrum Smith in the films Joseph Smith: The Prophet of the Restoration and Emma Smith: My Story. He also stars in three movies in the “Liken the Scriptures” musical film series. Dallyn and his wife, Rachel, portrayed Joseph and Emma Smith in the first three seasons of the LDS Church historical pageant, Nauvoo, in Nauvoo, Illinois. Dallyn originated and has reprised the role of Joseph the Carpenter in the sacred musical drama, Savior of the World, at the Conference Center Theatre. He also portrayed Alma Richards in Light of the World, an original musical production presented by the LDS Church at the Conference Center during the 2002 Winter Olympics. Dallyn has performed as a guest soloist several times with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on their "Music and the Spoken Word" national broadcast. Bayles has also performed as a soloist in concerts with Broadway composer Frank Wildhorn, Kurt Bestor, and the Utah Symphony.
He recently debuted at Carnegie Hall in Tim Janis’ “The American Christmas Carol,” performing with Matthew Morrison, Sierra Boggess, Hayley Westenra and other stars of stage and screen.
In 2007 he released his debut solo album, Prayer, for which he received two Pearl Awards (Inspirational Album and New Recording Artist) from the Faith Centered Music Association, and a Listener's Choice Award (New Artist) from the LDS Booksellers Association. He has also released Song of Redeeming Love and Broadway album Some Enchanted Evening, and has recordings featured in the films 17 Miracles and Ephraim’s Rescue.
He completed his MFA in Musical Theatre at The Boston Conservatory, and received his BFA in Music Dance Theatre from Brigham Young University. He received the BYU Young Alumni Distinguished Service Award in 2012, and was honored to receive the 2017 Utah Governor’s Mansion Performing Artist Award. Bayles has worked as adjunct faculty at BYU, as a director, voice teacher, and master class instructor.
Bayles and his wife are the parents of five children and reside in Orem, Utah.
