Douglas H. Smith, was a General Authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was sustained as a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy on April 4, 1987. He was transferred to the Second Quorum of the Seventy and was released on October 4, 1992.

Smith was born on May 11, 1921, in Salt Lake City and was raised there. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1942. He was involved in many Utah companies and served as president of five companies and chairman or on board of directors for seven others, including president of the Beneficial Life Insurance Company, chairman of the board of directors of LDS Hospital, member of the board of directors of Zions First National Bank, and vice chairman and executive vice president of Deseret Management Corporation.

He and his wife, Barbara B. Smith, who was Relief Society general president from October 1974 to April 1984, are the parents of seven children. He passed away on January 29, 2009.
