Edward Geary is an emeritus professor of English and former director of the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University. He is the author of The Proper Edge of the Sky: The High Plateau Country of Utah, A History of Emery County, and Goodbye to Poplar Haven: Recollections of a Utah Boyhood. He served as associate director of Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought. He has written numerous personal essays and literary criticisms.

Geary was born in Huntington, Utah, and was educated at the College of Eastern Utah and BYU and holds a PhD from Stanford University. He has served on the board of directors and the executive committee for the Utah Arts Council. He is a past president of the Association for Mormon Letters.

He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
