Ellen Knowles Melling Salisbury is the composer of the Latter-day Saint hymn “Oh Say What Is Truth?” (#272), which was included in the 1985 Hymns of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She was born on November 3, 1820, in England. She had six children with her husband John Melling. He died in 1859, a few years after they arrived in Utah. She married her widowed brother in law Thomas Salisbury. She died on August 11, 1905.
