She speaks throughout the United States and is a popular presenter at Deseret Book’s Time Out for Women. In 2022, Utah Valley Magazine named her "Person of the Year" for her approach to connection amidst challenges. "In the past, we've given this designation to governors, university presidents, and problem-solving mayors. But this year, when division is rampant and chasms of ideological differences are seismic, we wanted to feature a local leader who is showing us how to come together. Emily has become the go-to voice for uniting religiously diverse groups."
She was born in Boston, Massachusetts, on December 31, 1969, and grew up in Sandy, Utah. During her senior year of high school, her parents were called to lead the California Ventura Mission. The six children took part in every mission, zone and stake conference with their parents. After high school graduation, she entered Brigham Young University.
She and her husband, Greg, are the parents of five children, including NFL player Garett Bolles.
