The Gold Plates were a record, or history, of the progression and fall of God's people within the Americas; namely the [[Nephites]] and [[Lamanites]]. This record begins with [[Nephi]]'s account of his families exodus from Jerusalem, and ends with [[Moroni]]'s final battle in the Americas. The Plates were compilled by [[Mormon]] from the former [[Brass Plates]] and [[Copper Plates]]. They were burried by Moroni in the soil of [[Hill Cumorrah]], where they were found by [[Joseph Smith]], by revelation of the [[Angel Moroni]]. The Gold Plates were then translated by [[Joseph Smith]] from the original [[reformed Egyptian]] texts, and then published into the scriptures we have today known as [[The Book of Mormon]].
