The Gold Plates were a record, or history, of the progression and fall of God's people within the Americas; namely the Nephites and Lamanites. This record begins with Nephi's account of his families exodus from Jerusalem, and ends with Moroni's final battle in the Americas. The Plates were compilled by Mormon from the former Brass Plates and Copper Plates. They were burried by Moroni in the soil of Hill Cumorah, where they were found by Joseph Smith, by revelation of the Angel Moroni. The Gold Plates were then translated by Joseph Smith from the original reformed Egyptian texts, and then published into the scriptures we have today known as The Book of Mormon.Goldplates.jpg
