Henry D. Taylor

Henry D. Taylor was a General Authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Taylor was born on November 22, 1903, in Provo, Utah. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Brigham Young University and his master’s degree in retailing from New York University. He spent most of his career working for his family mercantile business, Dixon-Taylor-Russell Home Furnishers. He was also a managing director of the Church’s welfare services program.

Taylor was sustained as an Assistant to the Quorum of the Twelve on April 6, 1958. When the position was eliminated on October 1, 1976, he was sustained as a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy. He was designated emeritus status on September 30, 1978. he also served as a bishop and stake president. He presided over the California Mission immediately prior to his call as a General Authority. As a youth, he served as a full-time missionary in the Eastern States Mission from to 1958.

He and his wife, Alta, were the parents of four sons. After her passing in 1986, he married Ethelyn Peterson. He died on February 24, 1987.
