J. Devn Cornish Mormon leader

J. Devn Cornish is a retired doctor and professor. He was sustained a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 2, 2011.

Cornish was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and earned both his bachelor’s degree in biology and his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University. He completed his pediatric residency at the Boston Children’s Hospital at Harvard University. He completed his neonatology fellowship program at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center.

He was a professor and vice chair for faculty development at Emory University School of Medicine in the pediatric department.

Cornish served a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ in the Guatemala-El Salvador Mission. He has also served as elders quorum president, ward executive secretary, mission leader, Young Men president, bishop, high priests group leader, and stake president. He presided over the Dominican Republic Santiago Mission from 2003 to 2006.

He and his wife, Elaine Simmons, are the parents of six children.
