Jim Koford was the recipient of a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Sound Editing for a Limited Series, Movie, or Special. He won for Wallenberg: A Hero’s Story (1985). He was nominated for an Emmy in 1986 for Dallas: The Early Years, and Peter the Great, part 1. He was also nominated for The Taking of Flight 847: The Uli Derickson Story in 1988; and in 1991 for The Flash series.

He also won a Golden Globe award for sound effects on Ellis Island.

He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
