Janell Brown and her husband, Trent, founded "One Sweet Slice" in 2004 and it journeyed from a home-based cake business to an award-winning bakery with two locations. During just a few years, the bakery garnered several awards, including City Weekly’s Best of Utah and Best of State. Janell eventually closed the stores in order to focus on her family. Her efforts are now focused on her recipe and tutorial blog and on creating baking books.

In 2012, Janell won the Food Network’s reality show “Cupcake Wars.”

She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
