Jennie Hansen: Mormon Author
Jennie Hansen is a writer whose writings, like her life, cover varied territory. She has more than twenty novels in a variety of genres, including romantic suspense, mystery, historical, and western. She has written numerous short stories and magazine and newspaper articles. She has been an editor, a reviewer, and writes a blog. During her growing-up years, she moved frequently, living in twenty-two different houses and attending eight schools. In addition to writing, she has worked as a model, secretary, legislative page, teacher, and librarian. She served a term on the Kearns Town Council, two terms on the Salt Palace Advisory Board, and was a delegate to the White House Conference on Libraries and Information Services. She also earned degrees from Ricks College and Westminster College.
Hansen’s novels include By the River (2015), Where the River Once Flowed (2013), The Heirs of Southbridge (2012), If I Should Die (2011), Shudder (2009), Wild Card (2006), Code Red (2004), Breaking Point (2003), Abandoned (2002), Beyond Summer Dreams (2001), Chance Encounter (2000), All I Hold Dear (1999), Coming Home (1998), Journey Home (1997), Some Sweet Day (1997), When Tomorrow Comes (1994), and Run Away Home (1993). She penned The Bracelet series (The Bracelet, The Bracelet: The Emerald, The Bracelet: The Topaz, and The Bracelet: The Ruby). She contributed a novella "Rescuing Bailey" to Three Little Words (2015, co-written with K. C. Grant and Aubrey Mace).
She has received numerous first- and second-place writing awards from the Utah and National Federation of Press Women and was the 1997 third place winner of the URWA Heart of the West Writers Contest. In 2007, she received a Whitney Award for Outstanding Achievement. LDStorymakers awarded her its Lifetime Achievement Award for 2008.
Hansen was born on February 11, 1943, in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She and her husband, Boyd, are the parents of five children.
