Jolie Hales

Jolie Hales works in multimedia, having written and directed films, appeared in hundreds of television commercials, and performed in musical theater. She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and hosts a YouTube channel as “the Mormon next door” as she explains “What Mormons Believe.”

Hales grew up in Utah and earned her bachelor’s degree from Weber State University where she studied electronic media and vocal performance. She earned her Master of Fine Arts degree in film directing from Chapman University.

She was Ambassador of the Disneyland Resort for two years (2010–2012) and appeared in hundreds of television and radio interviews around the world. She began working for Disneyland in 2006 and had been a cast member for the resort. In 2009 she became a Youth Education Series facilitator and worked locally to inspire excellence in leadership among schoolchildren.

She has written and directed a number of films earning her awards at festivals throughout the world, including a Student Emmy from the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation for her short film, Latter-day Fake, a comedy about a guy who pretends to be a Mormon after falling in love with a Mormon girl. She has twice performed the role of Mary in Savior of the World, and she wrote the script for an original Irvine California Stake production, The Errand. She has directed Passing and The Way It Should Be; both showed at the LDS Film Festival.
