Jose Luis Alonso Trejo has served as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since April 2, 2011. He is a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy.

He was born in Cuautia, Mexico, on November 17, 1958, and lived for part of his childhood in Mexico City. He joined the Church while a teenager after he moved back to Cuautia to live with his father. He earned a medical degree as a homeopathic physician and surgeon in 1986. In 1991, he earned a degree in pediatric development. He was a homeopathic physician and surgeon, and also worked in his community with the Red Cross Emergency Unit and San Francisco Medical Clinic. He also served as an Institute director for the Church Educational System.

Alonso met his wife, Rebeca, during his teen years. After he served as a full-time missionary in the Mexico Hermosillo Mission, they traveled by bus for 48 hours to marry in the Mesa Arizona Temple. They are the parents of two children.

Elder Alonso presided over the Mexico Tijuana Mission from 2002 to 2005 and has served as a bishop, stake president, mission president’s counselor, and Area Seventy.
