Lee Anne Pope is the wife of Brigham Young University’s head men’s basketball coach Mark Pope and the daughter of former University of Utah head basketball coach Lynn Archibald. (He later was assistant coach at BYU). She said that with two brothers and being the only daughter, she had to understand the game to hold her own.

Lee Anne went to New York City while a student at Brigham Young University and participated in the summer internship program working for ESPN. (She has a degree in journalism from BYU.) That internship turned into a full-time job. Her friend Heather Petersen was working for late-night television icon David Letterman and arranged a job interview for Lee Anne. She was hired and worked for Letterman as a personal assistant for four years.

Lee Anne’s brother Damon had met Mark at a pro camp and introduced them. They emailed and spoke on the phone for several weeks before she met him when she traveled for Letterman to Indiana (his home state). Mark was playing for the Indiana Pacers at the time. They met for the first time in Indiana.

Lee Anne is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and is the mother of four daughters.
