On April 3, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct a temple in Maceió, Brazil. The temple in Maceió will be the 15th announced temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for Brazil.[1]

Maceió is the capital and the largest city of the coastal state of Alagoas, Brazil. Many tourists visit this port city to see its natural attractions and enjoy its cultural diversity.

There are nearly 1.5 million Latter-day Saints in Brazil in more than 2,100 congregations.[2]

Location

The Maceió Brazil Temple is currently in the planning stages. It will be built at Avenida — Dr. Durval de Góis Monteiro, S/N, Quadra 0522, Lote 0228. Plans call for a one-story temple of approximately 19,000 square feet. A rendering of the temple will be made available at a later date.
