Marvin O. Ashton was a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as first counselor in the Presiding Bishopric from April 6, 1938, until his death on October 7, 1946. The Presiding Bishop, LeGrand Richards was his brother in law.

Ashton was born on April 8, 1883, in Salt Lake City. Soon after his marriage to Rachel “Rae” Grace Jeremy in 1906, he embarked on a mission to England for the Church. He returned home in 1909 and served as a bishop and stake president. During his service as a general authority, he was chairman of the General Church Music Committee and contributed frequently to the Improvement Era, a Church magazine.

Ashton and his wife, Rae, were the parents of seven children, including Marvin J. Ashton, who served in the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
