Matthew James Salmon is a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives. He represented Arizona's 5th district from January 3, 2013 to January 3, 2017, and Arizona's 1st district from January 3, 1995, to January 3, 2001. He was a member of the Arizona Senate from January 3, 1991, to January 3, 1995.

In January 2017, he joined Arizona State University as vice president for government affairs. Aside from public service, he had a career in telecommunications.

Salmon was born on January 21, 1958, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He earned his bachelor's degree from Arizona State University, Tempe, and his Master of Public Administration from Brigham Young University.

Salmon is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a full-time missionary to Taiwan for the Church from 1977 to 1979. He and his wife, Nancy, are the parents of four children.
