Michael Dorff
Michael Dorff, a math professor and chair of the math department at Brigham Young University, was elected as the president-elect of the Mathematical Association of America in March 2018. After serving as president-elect for one year, he leads the 25,000-member Math Association for two years.
Dorff holds a PhD in mathematics from the University of Kentucky. He received his master’s degree in mathematics from the University of New Hampshire and his bachelor’s degree in mathematics education from Brigham Young University. He has been an assistant professor at the University of Missouri (1997–2000) and BYU (2000–2004), and associate professor at BYU from 2004–2011. He was associate chair over the undergraduate programs in the Department of Math at BYU from 2006–2011.
He was a visiting mathematician with the Mathematical Association of America in Washington, DC (2012) and visiting U.S. Fulbright scholar at the Uniwersytet Marii Curie-Sklodowskiej in Poland from 2005 to 2006.
