Orson F. Whitney (1855-1931) was an early apostle of the Mormon church. He is also recognized for his poetry. He also wrote a history of Utah.
Whitney served missions in both Pennsylvania and Great Britain. During his mission to the latter place he was editor of the Mellennial Star.
He also served as a bishop in Salt Lake City for many years, first being called when he was still single.
