Peter Tidwell is a finalist on Food Network's 2019 "Halloween Baking Championship." He also competed in the Food Network’s “Cake Wars” and took top prize in the 2016 competition. His second cake from the competition was featured at the 2016 “Halo” world championship.

His first-round cake was a cranberry cake with a honey/blue cheese frosting built in the shape of a giant Flood infection form from the Halo game. His second cake, a scene of heroes and villains battling across the bottom layer, along with a victorious Master Chief character perched atop a transparent circular base at the pinnacle of the cake, was created with a chocolate brownie pound cake with a vanilla Italian buttercream.

He returned to "Cake Wars" in 2017, competed against past champions, and took first place again. Catrina Jones is his assistant.

Throughout his multiple appearances on the Food Network, Tidwell has been able to share his beliefs through the way he lives his faith. "It was very apparent to people, like within minutes of meeting me [that I am a Latter-day Saint]," Tidwell says. "I'm from Utah, have a young family, I don't drink alcohol, I don't drink coffee, and the questions come, 'Well, are you a Mormon? And are you a member of the Church?' And that is a fun opportunity and to help further the cause and help people know we are normal people like anybody else and care about loving and including others and that we are here to try and improve the world and help the world be a better place."[1]

Tidwell earned his bachelor’s degree in communications and an emphasis in advertising from Brigham Young University. He worked in marketing for a number of years at L’Oréal, and Microsoft and lived in New York. In New York during his free time, he visited bakeries, studied culinary school textbooks, and experimented at home.

After he and his wife, Charlotte, returned to Utah, he worked for doTERRA and opened a custom cake business in his parents' home, which soon expanded to a location in the heart of Provo. He was the chef and owner of The Mighty Baker shop based in Provo, Utah, until his lease ended for the site and he temporarily closed the business. The Mighty Baker, with Pete and Catrina as instructors and cake creators, now teaches cake creating and create custom cakes in Provo.

He learned to love the food industry while he worked for his brother’s Gandolfo’s Deli for 14 years since the age of 15.

Tidwell is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the father of three children.
