R. Eric Smith Mormon Editor

R. Eric Smith is editorial manager of the Joseph Smith Papers Project and of the Publications Division of the Church History Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was an editor for the Curriculum Department. He coedited (with Matthew J. Grow The Council of Fifty: What the Records Reveal about Mormon History (2017). He was a founding board member of the LDS Publishing Professionals Association.

Smith received his bachelor’s degree in English from Brigham Young University and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Utah. He practiced law in Salt Lake City. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
