During the fall of 2005, illustration student GayLynn Pettersen Ribeira approached him about completing her final project by traveling to Ghana. He supervised the trip in the 2006 with Ribeira and her classmates Jesse Bushnell and Emmalee R. Glauser. Paintings inspired by the trip were exhibited in the B. F. Richard Hull is an illustrator and retired art professor. Hull earned his Bachelor of Fine Art degree in illustration from Brigham Young University. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He was an adjunct professor at Utah Valley University from September 2011 to August 2014 when he became a visiting lecturer. He was a professor in the Visual Arts Department at BYU from 1987 until he retired in 2011. Prior to his work at BYU, he was a graphic designer for the Ensign magazine and also illustrated for the magazine.
