Rulon R. Garfield

Rulon R. Garfield was a junior high history teacher and professor at Brigham Young University. He enjoyed politics and served as an assistant to United States vice president Richard M. Nixon, for whom he served as an American political science fellow. Garfield later served a term as Utah state senator.

He also served in both the Korean War and World War II.

Garifield was born on June 13, 1926, in Harrisville, Utah. He earned degrees at Weber College and the University of Utah. He and his wife, Shirley, had seven children. He died on June 28, 2009, while in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
