Ruth Kendrick is the owner and chocolatier of Chocolat Artisan Confections based in Ogden, Utah.

She is a second-generation chocolatier, having learned from her mother, Pauline H. Atkinson. Together they authored Candymaking (1985), which includes their favorite recipes and helpful hints. Ruth has taught many classes in candy making and hand-dipping chocolates throughout the United States.

She earned her bachelor’s degree in homemaking education from Brigham Young University and her master’s degree in home economics education from Utah State University. She taught high school and university classes.

She expanded her knowledge of candy and chocolate techniques, especially how to make European-style confections when she took a course from PMCA, an international association of Candy Manufacturers; a short course on chocolate and sugar panning from Jean-Marie Auboine Chocolatiers; and attended the Callebaut Chocolate Academy.

Ruth has appeared on the Food Network with Bobby Flay and Al Roker. She has also been a guest presenter on a Trans-Atlantic Chocolate Cruise.

She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
