Samuel Williams

Samuel Williams was an early member of the church mentioned in the Doctrine and Covenants. He was born March 22, 1789 in Russell, Massachusetts. Williams was living in Kirtland when the saints began to arrive. He converted to the church and followed a group to Missouri. His time there was brief, as he was force to flee the state on account of the religious persecution. He lived in Nauvoo and there was called to be a counselor to John Hicks in the Nauvoo Elder's Quorom Presidency[1] When Hicks later apostasized from the church, Samuel filled his place as Elder's quorom president. Williams left Nauvoo with main body of the church and moved to Winter Quarters, where he would live until 1849. He died in Ogden, Utah on November 10, 1855.
