Savannah Stevenson: Mormon Actress
Savannah Stevenson is a British stage and film actress. She is currently playing Glinda in the West End production of Wicked at the Apollo Victoria Theatre.
Stevenson was born on July 29, 1983, and raised in Derbyshire. She was accepted into the prestigious National Youth Theatre at the age of fifteen. Beginning in 2001, she trained at The Guildford School of Acting and graduated with First Class Honours in Performance with the Principals Award.
She has played Sybil Evers in the stage adaptation of Oscar-winning film Chariots of Fire. She made West End headlines when she stepped into the iconic role of Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind, having been understudy to the role but had not yet been in a rehearsal. She created the role of Cinderella in the world premiere of Simply Cinderella. She played Kate Croy in The Wings of the Dove. She was in the original cast of Mary Poppins at The Prince Edward Theatre, which was her stage debut in the part of Fannie. She was also understudy for Winifred Banks and the title character. She has worked on The Menier Chocolate Factory's major revival of Aspects of Love by Andrew Lloyd-Webber. She played Martha Sowerby in The Secret Garden.
Stevenson has been involved in workshops for new stage adaptations of Evelyn Waugh's The Loved One, Austen's Pride and Prejudice, and the Lincoln Centre's production of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown in London.
She has appeared in guest roles in episodes of television dramas such as Casualty, Playing The Field, and Peak Practice. She has also been in television commercials for T Mobile, Ask.com, and Western Spirit. She is part of the original cast recordings for Mary Poppins (Disney/Cameron Macintosh). She was also part of the concept album for Love Never Dies, the sequel to The Phantom of the Opera by Andrew Lloyd-Webber.
She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After worldwide auditions, she was cast to play Mary, the mother of Jesus in the New Testament video series created by the Church. A segment of the footage was used as part of the 2014 “He Is the Gift” Christmas campaign, which went viral on YouTube and Facebook with over 11 million views.
Stevenson married Nathan Copier in April 2015.
