Toluca Mexico Temple
During his General Conference closing remarks on October 2, 2022, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct four new temples in the Mexico City metropolitan area. He explained, "We are also planning to build multiple temples in selected large metropolitan areas where travel time to an existing temple is a major challenge."[1] The Mexico City Mexico Temple was dedicated in 1983, and the Mexico City Benemerito Mexico Temple was announced in April 2022.
The Toluca Mexico Temple will be located in Toluca, formally known as Toluca de Lerdo. It is the capital of Mexico’s central state of Mexico and is located about 40 miles west of Mexico City. With a population of about 900,000 residents, Toluca is the fifth most populous city in the country.[2]
Location
The Toluca Mexico Temple is currently in the planning stages. This house of the Lord will be built on a 4.87-acre site located at Calle Guadalupe Victoria corner Uruapan, Col. Las Jaras, Metepec, State of Mexico, 52166. Plans call for construction of a single-story temple of approximately 19,000 square feet. This will be the 24th temple in Mexico.
