Virginia Pearce
Virginia Hinckley Pearce is an author and former member of the Young Women general presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (1992–1997). She also served on the Primary general board. She is a daughter of Gordon B. Hinckley, the fifteenth president of the Church, and Marjorie Pay Hinckley.
Pearce was born on February 8, 1945, in Denver, Colorado. She earned her master’s degree from the University of Utah in social work. She has worked as a private practice therapist and an instructor of children’s literature.
She wrote Through His Eyes: Rethinking What You Believe about Yourself (2011), A Heart Like His: Making Space for God’s Love in Your Life (2006), and Glimpses into the Life and Heart of Marjorie Pay Hinckley (1999). Pearce and Sheri L. Dew compiled The Beginning of Better Days: Divine Instruction to Women from the Prophet Joseph Smith (2012) and wrote introductory personal essays.
She also wrote several children’s books with her sister Kathleen H. Barnes Walker: I Love to See the Temple (2002), Prayer Time (2001), Sacrament Time (2000), What Is a Miracle? (1975).
Pearce has been a featured speaker at Deseret Book’s Time Out for Women and Women’s Conference at Brigham Young University. Deseret Book also featured her in an audiocassette “The Power of Remembering.” She has served as a member of the Deseret Book Editorial Board, a company owned by the Church.
Pearce married James R. M. Pearce and they are the parents of six children. He passed away in 2009.
