Virginia Urry Jensen served as first counselor to Mary Ellen W. Smoot, thirteenth Relief Society general president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Sheri L. Dew was called as the second counselor.

Jensen is a native of Salt Lake City, Utah, and attended the University of Utah. She is married to Jesse Rees Jensen and they are the parents of four children. She was able to make home and family her priority while her children were young. Once her children were raised, she volunteered in her community and the Church. She served as assistant director for Church hosting for three years and director of Church hosting for the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, Church Office Building, and Relief Society Building for the eighteen months prior to her call to the general Relief Society presidency in April 1997. She was released in April 2002.

From July 2003 to June 2005 she served with her husband as he presided over the Missouri Independence Mission.
