Walter Joshua “Jay” Eldredge Jr. was a leader in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as the thirteenth general superintendent of the Young Men’s Mutual Improvement Association (1969-1972) and as mission president in the eastern United States (Eastern States Mission). He also served at one time as a stake president.
He was founder and president of Eldredge Furniture Company. He remodeled the theater that would become the Promised Valley Playhouse, rebuilt the Brighton Latter-day Saint Girls Camp, built the Brighton Latter-day Saint chapel, and renovated an old brownstone in New York City to house a Spanish-speaking branch.
