W. Mark Bassett was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 2, 2016. He was serving as a member of the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy at the time of his call.

He was born on August 14, 1966, in Carmichael, California. He earned an accounting degree from Brigham Young University and worked as controller at Brasher’s Sacramento Auto Auction and then as co-owner and CFO of West Coast Auto Auctions.

In addition to serving as a General Authority, Bassett has served as a bishop, high councilor, stake president, and Young Men president. He presided over the Arizona Mesa Mission from 2007 to 2010. He also served as an Area Seventy and was a full-time Missionary in the Guatemala Guatemala City Mission.

Bassett and his wife, Angela, are the parents of five children.
