Yuki Saito Mormon entertainer

Yuki Isarai, known professionally by her maiden name, Yuki Saito, is a Japanese singer, songwriter, actress, author, essayist, and poet. She is well known in Japan for being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because of her refusal to work on Sunday.

Saito was born September 10, 1966, in Minami-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. She attended Kanagawa Prefectural Shimizugaoka High School (now called Yokohama Seiryo Sogo High School). While she was attending high school, she won the third annual “Miss Magazine” Grand Prix contest run by Kodansha in Weekly Shonen. The following year she made her singing debut.

After her debut single "Sotsugyo" and album Axia, she was cast in the lead role of Saki Asamiya in the first Sukeban Deka television drama series. She has appeared and starred in many television and film dramas, comedies, and plays. She has lent her voice to many films and anime series.

While raising her children, she moved from her role of star to occasional movie and television roles. She also began writing poetry, doing voice-over narration, and writing songs and lyrics. Most of her roles in the 1990s were dramatic roles. In 2006, she returned to her comedy roots with a role in Wagahai wa Shufu Dearu, debuted again as a singer, formed a duo called “Yanake” with Mitsuhiro Oikawa and released Kateinai Date. She also revisited her debut role by playing Saki’s mother in a 2006 movie, Sukeban Deka: Codename = Asamiya Saki.

In February 2011 she held several 25th anniversary concerts.

She is married to Nobuyasu Isarai and they have three children. Her father owns a well-respected obi tailoring shop in Yokohama. Her brother, Ryuji Saito, is an actor.
