Lili Hall Sharp Mormon BookConservator

Lili Hall Sharp is a bookbinder and book conservator. She began her journey into bookmaking as a child when she taught herself how to make paper. Later she taught herself to make simple little books. She began attending the American Academy of Bookbinding as a teen and she continues to attend summer courses to advance her work towards a diploma.

She earned her BFA degree in fine art and printmaking from Brigham Young University where she worked at the Lee library conservation lab and was mentored in bookbinding, conservation, paper repair, and the care of rare books. She earned her master’s degree in book restoration and conservation at West Dean in England where she had the opportunity to intern at the Bodleian Library in Oxford.

She has worked for independent bookbinder Ethan Ensign at Scrub Oak Bindery and has taught workshops and university courses in bookbinding and related arts.

Sharp is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
