Piura Peru Temple

In his closing remarks at the 193rd Semiannual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, President Russell M. Nelson announced plans to construct a temple in Piura, Peru.

The Piura Peru Temple will be the eighth temple in Peru. Piura is the capital of the Piura Region in northwestern Peru. The Piura Peru Temple will be the first house of the Lord in that region. Peru is home to around 630,000 Latter-day Saints and more than 775 congregations. The first Latter-day Saint missionaries arrived in the country in 1956.[1]

Other temples announced, in operation, or under construction include the Arequipa Peru Temple, the Chiclayo Peru Temple, the Cusco Peru Temple, the Huancayo Peru Temple, the Iquitos Peru Temple, the Lima Peru Temple, the Lima Peru Los Olivos Temple, and the Trujillo Peru Temple.

Location

The Piura Peru Temple is currently in the planning stages. No location has been announced.
